1940's Ranch House In Cloverdale

This 1940’s ranch home was ready for a Kitchen update. The Kitchen was situated adjacent to the original Back Porch, which had been enclosed during a former renovation. 

The porch featured large windows, a rustic brick floor, and the original board and batten ceiling. This room was full of life and character, and would serve as the inspiration for the new Kitchen, being located in adjacent proximity.

The original Kitchen layout offered a compact but efficient design, so the homeowner was in favor of focusing on cosmetic upgrades rather than an overall new layout. The new design would incorporate the following features:

1. New board / batten wood and rustic beams at the ceiling.
2. New oak hardwoods, finished in a warm cherry stain.
3. Upgraded cabinetry, incorporating details such as decorative brackets.
4. Absolute Black countertops were selected, offering a nice clean contrast.
5. The existing iron / glass window was painted black, providing a crisp view to the lush gardens beyond.
6. New light fixtures, hardware, and plumbing fixtures were selected, providing a simple and modern vibe.
7. The backsplash design offers a modern twist on a Greek Key pattern, utilizing glazed subway tiles in blue and cream. 
8. The door from the former Mudroom was eliminated. New lower cabinets and decorative upper shelves (at upper windows) were installed to create a Coffee Station. 
9. Built-in Bookshelves were added above the Kitchen doors, to compliment the existing adjacent bookcases. 
10. The Butler’s Pantry received new board / batten ceiling, new hardwoods, and upgraded lighting package including new concealed fixtures / glass shelves at the original butler’s pantry cabinet.
11. New furnishings include custom sized kitchen Table, Breakfast Chairs, and new console table at the Butler’s Pantry.
